The Kind of Mother I Hope to Be

la signorina triste

The colour of her hair could only be described as a mocha but the fancy type you’d get at a Starbucks. It was obvious to be a personalised amalgamation of browns that resulted into a contemporary hue so that nobody would ever dare to call her mousy. Every lock had its place yet the curls appeared relaxed, unmistakably sculpted only by a professional. My mother and I recognised her immediately as the woman and her family arrived at the airport to catch the same flight as us. The woman was a well-known media personality whilst her husband was the heir to a successful family business.

It was however her popular Instagram account that stood out in our minds more than anything else. The woman frequently published pictures online of her family, doting on them and illustrating her most prized role as a mother before anything else. Her party was thus…

How To Love A Girl Like Her

Thought Catalog

Be prepared to feel like you’ve been hit by a ton of bricks.

Get ready to experience the best and worst things all at once. Be willing to endure the words she says that can go from the most painful and isolating to the most perfect and heavenly. Know that you are fighting an uphill battle. Understand why she guards her heart the way she does. Notice the pain behind her eyes. Admire her strength and conviction. Revel in the moments when she lets you in. Recognize that even though they’re short, those moments mean more than you know.

Watch her try to find herself in the arms of another. Be patient. Drive her home and say good night. Allow her to go while knowing she’s not completely gone.

See her heart get broken. Help her pick up the pieces. Put her to bed after you’ve held her hair back…

We Need To Completely Stop Comparing Each Other. People Are SUPPOSED To Be Different.

Thought Catalog

As human beings, we need to stop comparing ourselves to one another. Recently, I have noticed a lot of my peers comparing themselves to those around them, and it’s causing nothing but negative vibes. Stop that.

You literally cannot compare two people because they have so many different aspects and quirks that make them completely unique and dissimilar. We are genetically made up of different stuff–how could we be the same as one another? Yes, people share similar characteristics and attributes, but no two people are exactly the same. Based on that principle alone, it shows you how silly we are to put ourselves down for not being or looking “as good as” someone else. If everyone in this world was all good at the same things and all did things the same or looked and acted the same, life would be boring and uninspiring, and quite frankly not…

17 Things People Who Love Their Lives Seem To Do Differently

Thought Catalog

Screen Shot 2014-05-14 at 3.12.31 PM

Not someone who always loves life, just an observer of those who seem to.

1. They don’t respond with a job title when asked “what they do.” Their lives aren’t consumed by work and they aren’t defined by a job or title or position — and that’s exactly what makes it possible for them to actually enjoy those things. They forge their own paths by choosing the ones they enjoy walking down, not just the ones that lead them somewhere else.

2. They keep light roots. They know that wanting to go — from cities, from relationships, from jobs — is enough reason to. They act. They make changes, they do the work. They grow wherever they are, but can move and blossom anywhere. They’re never so attached to anything that their happiness depends on it.

3. They choose where they live based on lifestyle and culture, not on the ability to say they live in one specific…

My best friends are an extraordinary group of people. They are all so different, yet so much alike. Some friendships I’ve had for years, some are new and growing stronger by the day. Either way, there are some things they all do for every day that I forget to thank them for. I feel like it’s about time to start, because without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today.

1. Thank you for being there not just when it’s convenient for you, but when it’s not. I know that I can call you at 2am and you’ll come running to my side. We all have our own things to deal with and adjustments to make, but you always take a break from your hectic life to make sure that I’m okay. When I need a shoulder to cry on, I know…

Why I’ll Always Just Want One Girl

Thought Catalog

zoetnetzoetnet

My dad says, Zach, you should just go have fun and explore. A lot of guys I know think it’s cool to get with a lot of girls. Chief Keef—one of my favorite artists—says stuff like, “I don’t want relations, I just want one night!” I listen to that music and love it but deep down, I know that it is not me. That as much as I deny it or have denied it, I like relationships, I like dating, I like love.

So when I say I’ll always want just one girl, I don’t mean the same girl, though staying in love with the same girl seems nice; that’s marriage. I mean, just one girl at a time. I mean, falling in love. It doesn’t have to be dating but it has to be something monogamous.

I want to make memories with the same person like different colored…

Them racing thoughts.

1. We can eat pork……

2. We can pray in Hebrew

or in Cantonese. Or in Russian. Or in sign language or just about ANY language in the world! Yes, as Muslims, you are encouraged to learn Arabic as the Quraan(Sacred Book) is written in Arabic (here’s why).

BUT the word is encouraaggeeeee. If you have a language disability or you are just really comfortable in your native language -relax. God gets it. Baby steps.

3. WE DECLARE JIHAD!!!! (On ourselves)

Pay attention to the simplest breakdown of this word that you will remember for the rest of your life.
